Bill Walsh bridges past and present on new album Old and New

Sydney singer-songwriter Bill Walsh has released his latest album Old and New, a seven-track collection that reflects on different stages of his life while showcasing his growing confidence as a songwriter.

Although Walsh describes himself as a “late bloomer,” he has quickly established a distinctive voice, blending heartfelt lyricism with classic songwriting and warm, guitar-led arrangements. The album brings together previously released singles ‘So Many Things’, ‘Song for Jon’ and ‘The Only One’ alongside four new recordings, creating a thoughtful mix of personal reflection and timeless musicianship.

The record’s title reflects its dual perspective, with songs written years apart sitting comfortably alongside more recent material inspired by family life, travel and contemporary social issues. The result is an album that balances nostalgia with fresh insight, offering listeners an honest look at Walsh’s evolving creative journey.

Despite only focusing seriously on songwriting in recent years, Walsh’s very first composition won the Rudy Brandsma Award for Songwriting Excellence over two decades ago. Alongside developing his own music, he has remained committed to supporting fellow artists through mentoring and collaboration, making Old and New another meaningful milestone in an increasingly rewarding musical chapter.
