There’s an appealing tension at the centre of Tom Ymani’s Amorium. Across the double single, the Brussels-based artist takes the uncertainty of wanting someone who may never want you back and turns it into something vivid, melodic and built for movement.
Bringing together ‘I Want You Way’ and ‘Encore Plus’, the release works as a compact introduction to Tom Ymani’s wider pop identity. Both tracks are rooted in attraction and emotional imbalance, but neither is content to sit quietly inside heartbreak. Instead, they push those feelings outward through polished arrangements, danceable rhythms and a sense of theatricality that gives the material more lift.
That instinct has clearly been shaped by Tom Ymani’s longstanding fascination with artists such as Madonna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, where music, image and performance all operate as part of the same language. Yet Amorium feels most effective when those influences are filtered through something more personal.
There’s also a welcome sense of control in the production. Tom Ymani worked closely on the creative direction of the instrumentals before shaping the lyrics and vocal melodies himself, and that hands-on process gives the release a cohesive feel. The songs are sleek without becoming anonymous, with enough space left around the vocals for the emotional tension to remain visible.
As a two-track release, Amorium is concise but revealing. It shows Tom Ymani refining a sound built around freedom, identity and celebration while becoming more confident about placing vulnerability at the centre of it. Colourful, self-aware and emotionally direct, it’s a strong step forward from an artist steadily sharpening his own version of modern pop.
