Sunny Rae Keller reflects on family and generational care with ‘Carry You On’

Californian singer-songwriter Sunny Rae Keller introduces another side of her forthcoming debut album Pocket with new single ‘Carry You On’.

Centred around acoustic guitar, restrained percussion and her understated vocal performance, the track explores the relationships between parents, children and the generations that precede them. It was written during an artist residency at Château Orquevaux in France, where conversations with her mother prompted her to consider their wider family history.

Those discussions included her mother’s experience caring for her adoptive grandmother through Alzheimer’s, alongside reflections on the biological grandmother she never knew.

Now based between Paris and Los Angeles, Sunny Rae Keller continues to explore memory, family and identity through contemporary folk. With its quiet arrangement and thoughtful perspective, ‘Carry You On’ offers a considered introduction to the themes set to shape Pocket.
