Matz Patrick reflects on absence and memory with ‘augustine’

London-based indie-folk songwriter Matz Patrick has shared his latest single ‘augustine’.

Built around acoustic guitar, piano and understated Americana flourishes, the track unfolds patiently, allowing pedal steel, banjo and subtle string arrangements to gradually emerge around his measured vocal delivery. The result is warm and intimate, balancing folk traditions with modern indie production.

Lyrically, ‘augustine’ explores the lingering presence of someone after a relationship has ended as the quiet traces left behind in familiar spaces and everyday routines. Rather than presenting loss as something dramatic or overwhelming, the song focuses on the smaller moments where memory quietly persists.

Originally from North Carolina and now based in London, Patrick continues to draw on both British and American songwriting traditions, creating songs rooted in detail, atmosphere and emotional clarity.

Following the release of his debut EP Sweet Reminder and growing support from broadcasters and playlists on both sides of the Atlantic, ‘augustine’ offers another thoughtful addition to his developing catalogue.
