Written and produced independently by Wild before being mixed by Steve Stout in Texas, the song grew from a decade-old poem rediscovered after she immersed herself in The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas and Natalie Bergman.
The inspiration stretches into cinema too. Wild’s fascination with Arthur Penn’s 1967 Bonnie and Clyde provided the starting point, but rather than recreating its story, she pushes the idea towards psychedelic Romeo and Juliet territory, exploring devotion as both liberation and destruction.
