Santa Maria-based Department of Electrophilosophy- the father-son duo of Marc and Cedric Bobro- have released their latest single, ‘Fleeing Thoughts’, the first offering from their upcoming EP, ‘Spin-oza’. The track is an immersive blend of IDM, post-industrial, and electroacoustic elements, recorded live with no overdubs, showcasing the duo’s commitment to raw, unfiltered sonic exploration.

Deeply inspired by the philosophy of Baruch Spinoza, ‘Spin-oza’ is set to be a thought-provoking journey through sound and abstract ideas, reflecting the project’s unique intersection of electronic experimentation and philosophical inquiry.

‘Fleeing Thoughts’ builds its identity on noise looping, industrial textures, and intricate modular synth work, creating a rhythmic yet unpredictable sonic landscape. By deliberately avoiding traditional instruments in favor of modular racks, theremins, drum machines, and noise generators, Department of Electrophilosophy crafts an immersive and cerebral listening experience that challenges conventional musical structures.

Their boundary-pushing approach to electronic music has already earned them a headline spot at an upcoming noise festival in April, further cementing their status as innovators in the avant-garde and industrial electronic movement.
