Mumbai-based singer, songwriter and composer Damini Bhatla has released her new album GOLD, bringing together contemporary R&B with elements drawn from South Indian classical and folk traditions.
Developed over the course of two years, the album began during a period of personal change for her and gradually developed into a broader exploration of womanhood. Across the record, she addresses themes including sisterhood, sensuality, heartbreak, intergenerational trauma and power.
Musically, GOLD moves between several styles. ‘Ramba Urvasi Menaka’ takes a more contemporary, uptempo approach, while ‘Seethakaalam’ places greater emphasis on traditional sounds and a stripped-back arrangement. ‘Ethili Neeye’ moves from folk-influenced passages into heavier guitars and rock rhythms.
The release follows growing attention for the artist, who has accumulated tens of millions of streams and has been selected as one of four Indian artists to participate in YouTube Foundry 2026. With support from Mass Appeal, GOLD marks the latest stage in her development as an artist combining contemporary songwriting with her South Indian musical background.
