Chapalu’s ‘I Will Find You’ is built around a simple promise, but the song gives that promise enough scale to feel almost mythic. Written by Drogheda songwriter Catherine Thomas and voiced by Virginia Richardson, the track places love against a backdrop of instability, using increasingly dramatic imagery to test how far devotion can stretch before it breaks.
Throughout, the world around the narrator seems to be shifting, collapsing and darkening, yet the central idea remains fixed. But rather than treating love as something delicate, Chapalu frames it as the one thing that still makes sense when everything else becomes unreliable.
Musically, the influence of Echo & the Bunnymen is easy to understand. There’s a shadowy, widescreen quality to the arrangement, but ‘I Will Find You’ stops short of becoming purely gothic. Richardson’s vocal adds urgency without overplaying the drama, while Iain Mahanty’s production gives the track enough polish to let its larger moments land cleanly.
The repeated title phrase also works particularly well as the song develops. Each return feels more insistent, turning what begins as reassurance into something closer to a vow. It’s a gradual intensification that gives the chorus a strong emotional lift and helps the track earn its more expansive moments.
As part of debut EP Clockwork Reverie, ‘I Will Find You’ makes a confident statement about Chapalu’s direction. Darkly romantic, melodic and carefully paced, it shows Catherine Thomas returning to songwriting with a strong sense of purpose and a clear understanding of how to turn emotional conviction into atmosphere.
