CAPYAC have always been at their best when things feel just a little out of control, and ‘Big CrUsh En3rgY’ leans gleefully into that instinct. Funky, flirtatious and packed with movement, it finds the Berlin and LA-based trio turning fleeting attraction into something loose, colourful and irresistibly physical.
The track arrives after a run of singles that have bounced between French house, synth-pop and hip-house, but ‘Big CrUsh En3rgY’ feels like a particularly natural fit. Its guitar-led groove carries an easy fluidity to it, while syncopated drums and elastic bass keep everything shifting underneath.
What makes it really pop, though, is the chemistry between the three members. Vocals move between Eric Peana, Obie Puckett and Delwin Campbell, giving the song the feel of a conversation throughout. Dreamy harmonies, playful ad-libs and warm keyboard textures keep folding into one another as the arrangement gradually opens up.
There’s plenty of polish here, but CAPYAC never let that polish make the track predictable. Their sense of humour remains firmly intact, and the song feels like something that could veer off into an improvised guitar break, synth solo or complete absurdity at any moment.
But beneath all that funk, there’s also a genuine warmth to the song. It captures the rush of connection without trying to overcomplicate it, celebrating crushes, friendships and the temporary communities that form around touring and nightlife.
