There’s an easy warmth to ‘Sing Me A Song’ that makes its bigger ideas feel wonderfully approachable. Firefly Search Party’s second single from forthcoming debut album Prism of Dispositions is built around the simple but resonant thought that if life is uncertain, then perhaps the best thing we can do is shareContinue Reading
Fierce Friend’s ‘Tokyo Rose’ begins in familiar territory and then slowly dismantles it. At first, the Brighton artist’s third single from forthcoming album Blood Red Hills & The Uncanny Valley feels almost restrained: sparse piano, intimate vocals and a sense of quiet uncertainty. But Alan Grice has little interest in keeping theContinue Reading
Awake & Dreaming have always been interested in contrast, and ‘Underwater’ leans into that instinct with particular clarity. Taken from forthcoming debut album Inevitable, the single feels like a 2am conversation with yourself about what you keep carrying, what needs to be released, and what happens if you refuse. Throughout, ‘Underwater’Continue Reading
There’s a satisfying sense of progression running through The Ingredient. The Venus Children’s debut album begins with urgency and impact, then gradually turns inward, allowing its harder edges to give way to something more reflective and emotionally exposed. Throughout this new collection, the band have built it to move through differentContinue Reading
There’s a lovely sense of movement at the heart of ‘Waterfall Laughter’. What begins as a relaxed Latin-folk groove gradually opens outward, gathering warmth, rhythm and momentum until it feels like a musical landscape changing around you. As the second chapter of Baldy Crawlers’ forthcoming Fais Toi Plaisir, it also worksContinue Reading
With her new collection ‘RECALIBRATED’, Amana Melome’ revisits the material from Recalibration from a noticeably different perspective. Where the original album focused on reflection, reconnection and personal change, this companion project is lighter on its feet, using rhythm and reinterpretation to explore what comes after that process. The collection moves across deep house,Continue Reading
Glass Rabbit understand that tension is often more effective when it is allowed to build slowly. And on their new single ‘Damn Shame’, the Portland quartet begin in a hazy, almost weightless space before gradually allowing that restraint to fracture. The result is a track that moves convincingly between dream-pop,Continue Reading
Flame’s debut live EP Medea In Blue offers a straightforward document of a band whose music appears to depend heavily on interaction, dynamics and atmosphere. Recorded live in a rehearsal studio in Edinburgh, the six-track release avoids excessive polish in favour of preserving the feel of a shared performance. Across theContinue Reading
Martin Kuiper’s Prison Of Modesty brings together songs written across more than thirty years, making it a record shaped as much by reflection as by composition. Some of its earliest material dates back to 1998, while other songs were completed much later, giving the album a naturally broad perspective on relationships, ambition,Continue Reading
There is a restless quality to ‘I Learn To Love’ that suits The Schisms well. As the first glimpse of forthcoming EP Tejas, the track finds the Austin trio pushing towards something more immediate and less shadow-bound than the mood of their previous album Moon, while still holding onto the strangeness thatContinue Reading
