Coffey turns grief back into feeling on ‘Feel It All’

Coffey’s ‘Feel It All’ is built around the deceptively simple idea, that after grief has numbed everything, learning to feel again can become its own act of survival.

The LA-born Chinese-American singer-songwriter pairs that emotional premise with a synth-pop arrangement designed to move. Momentum-filled synths, a driving bridge and an immediate hook give the track a sense of forward motion, but the song’s real weight comes from the personal history underneath it.

After leaving Berklee College of Music to care for her father while he was in hospice, she adopted her artist name in his memory following his death from cancer. In his final letter, he told her that wherever she played music, he would be there with her. And that detail hangs over ‘Feel It All’.

The song is about what happens after a loss; when the initial shock has passed but direction hasn’t returned. She has spoken about feeling emotionally hollow at twenty-one, trying to keep moving towards the goals she and her father had talked about while struggling to access any strong emotion at all.

Her response was to disappear for a while. An unplugged road trip across Western Australia, filmed on Super 8 by her boyfriend, became part escape, part recalibration. And it’s that experience that gives ‘Feel It All’ a real sense of release. The song becomes a love letter to healing, to the return of emotional extremes, and to the freedom of allowing joy and pain back in at the same time.

It makes the upbeat production especially effective. Instead of using bright synth-pop to disguise difficult subject matter, Coffey lets the energy become part of the recovery. The contrast between grief and movement gives the track its emotional charge, turning the chorus into something closer to a declaration.

For an artist whose wider work centres on resilience, mental health and finding light in heavy moments, ‘Feel It All’ feels like a defining statement. Sometimes healing isn’t about feeling better. Sometimes it’s simply about being able to feel everything again.
